Christmas in May, celebrating 20 years in Chaska, is a local non-profit organization that enlists volunteers and coordinates a one-day work project to repair and rehabilitate the homes of Chaska residents who have neither the financial nor physical ability to maintain their home. Skilled and unskilled volunteers do the work, which can include painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, hauling, cleaning, landscaping, and energy audits.
This program began in 1996, when volunteers in Chaska decided to devote one day in May to repair and spruce up the homes of low-income, disabled, and elderly neighbors in the community.
Christmas in May - Chaska will take place on May 7, 2016 and is offered at no cost to the home owner and a community bonding experience, not only for the homeowners, but for the many volunteers who participate with contributions, materials, and labor. If your home is in need of repairs that you cannot make yourself or afford to hire others to accomplish, please contact Christmas in May – Chaska by March 31, 2016.
