Chaska Police Department seeks to hire a part-time evidence clerk.  The job will require daytime hours 1 or 2 days a week and up to 8 hours a week.  Duties include receiving and storing evidence and property collected by the police department, ensuring a continuous chain of custody, responding to and fulfilling requests on evidence, and researching final dispositions of evidence and property.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer and office skills, the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and the ability to successfully pass a thorough background investigation.

Position Title:     Evidence Clerk
Reports to:         Detective Sergeant
 
Position Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining property and evidence seized or kept by the police department.

PT hours: 1-2 days/week, 8 hours/week
Pay: $15.50/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Receiving and storing evidence collected by the police department
  • Ensuring a continuous chain of custody
  • Responding to and fulfilling requests on evidence
  • Researching and using appropriate means to complete final dispositions of evidence and property
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer and office equipment skills including word processing and spreadsheet software, fax and copy machines
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to successfully pass a thorough background investigation
