2016 Citizen Academy
Our first night of Citizen Academy was held Tuesday February 16th at the Chaska Fire Station and fun was had by all!

Police Chief Scott Knight welcomed everyone to the academy and spoke about our police department history and culture along with sharing our “Anniversary Badge” celebrating 125 years of service to the community of Chaska.
City Administrator, Matt Podhradsky introduced city projects and future plans, which generated lots of questions.

Fire Chief Tim Wiebe spoke of the history of the Chaska Fire Department and important information regarding residential fire safety.

Police Officer Kelly Boll shared information regarding being a police officer.  She explained all of the equipment she carries, which totals almost 25 pounds, and everyone got a chance to see a squad car and all of equipment it carries. It was a busy night!

Chaska Officers issued 22 citations and 25 warnings during this reporting period.
There were 141 calls for service.

DWI:
Officer Reinhardt stopped a speeding vehicle in the area of Lyman Blvd and Hwy 41.  The male driver was intoxicated and failed field sobriety evaluations.  The male was arrested for DWI.  The result of a breath test was a .08 BAC.

Disturbances:

A male with an active arrest warrant, fled on foot after being confronted by police.  Officers apprehended the male a short distance later.  He was in possession of heroin and was placed under arrest.   He is charged with felony 5th degree possession of a controlled substance.




Police received a report of a male drinking beer inside a vehicle.  The vehicle and male driver were soon located.  The male’s license was suspended and he was in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.  He was arrested and charged with 5th degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving after suspension.
