The RangerSpiel

St. Paul RangerSpiel

The "Ranger" has been an annual tradition at the St. Paul Curling Club for nearly 30 years. They have raised funds nearing $150,000.00 that have been used to support scholarships to new and returning students at the four Iron Range Community Colleges.  Last year we began supporting the United Way’s Buddy Backpack program and raised funds near $25,000.00! We run a 40 team, two division spiel that always fills up quickly.  This year we would like to offer 2-4 spots to Chaska Curling Center teams for the upcoming spiel (February 4-5, 2017). An entry form and history of the event can be found on our website.  While having a Range connection is not required, they are looking to expand their Ranger network, volunteers, and fundraising capacity so some connection to the Range will be beneficial in getting into the 2017 RangerSpiel.

We would also like to see if there are any individuals from your club – Rangers or otherwise - that would be interested in volunteering at the RangerSpiel and helping us raise money for a couple good Iron Range causes.

The Big Spiel

It’s not too late to get your team in to The Big Spiel. A few spots remain to be filled. Don’t miss your chance to join in on the fun!
We’ve added a 10th Event to this year’s festivities. This insures all curlers will be playing into Saturday evening. In fact, if you are among the 64 teams to play a Thursday evening game, you will have a 5 game guarantee! Teams unable to play on Thursday will start on Friday at noon.

Sleep in! NO EARLY MORNING DRAWS on Friday or Saturday. The earliest you would have to hit the ice is if you are in a semi-final match on Sunday at 9 AM.
With ten events, The Big Spiel is a great opportunity for curlers of all levels to hone their skills and enjoy curling camaraderie with teams from 14 states and all over the metro area.
Whether it’s your league team, or a get together with some club-mates that you’ve always wanted to curl with, it’s sure to be a fantastic experience. We can even accommodate individuals who would like to play but don’t have a full team. Don’t hesitate. Only a few spots remain!

Chaska Mixed Spiel

There are fewer than ten spots remaining in the Chaska Mixed Spiel which will be held in February.  Sign up soon.  We will begin distributing flyers to other clubs in the next few weeks.
The mixed spiel is a nice opportunity to play against folks from other leagues, clubs, and curlers from out of state.  It is a social event and food and beverage will be provided.  Call or email the Curling Center if you have any questions.
