Congratulations to Chaska Police Capt. Rob Stock on his Retirement

The City of Chaska would like to take this opportunity to offer our sincere thanks to Police Captain Rob Stock on his 25 years of service.  On Friday, May 29th, Capt. Stock will be retiring from the Chaska Police Department.

Capt. Stock is a native of Cannon Falls, Minnesota and began his law enforcement career as an officer in the city of Garden City, Kansas in 1988.  In 1990 he joined the Chaska Police Department.  During his years with the Chaska Police Department, Capt. Stock has made a significant impact on the department.  He served in a number of roles, including patrol officer, investigator, police fire arms instructor, police field training officer, representative to the Carver County Sheriff’s SWAT and SERT units, representative to the Metro Region Peer Counseling/Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team, and as representative to the Carver County Justice Advisory Team.   He also served as the acting Chief of Police during Chief Scott Knight’s 2014-2015 medical leave.

Throughout the years he worked his way up through the ranks, serving as a role model and setting high standards for those who followed.  He has excelled as a member of the senior command staff helping to lead and guide the Police Department in day-to-day operations.  Capt. Stock has been an integral part of maintaining the professional standards of the Chaska Police Department.  He has also received numerous letters of recommendation and commendations throughout the course of his career.

We wish Capt. Stock the best of luck during his retirement and encourage all residents to thank him for his service.  A reception will be held at the Chaska Legion on Friday, May 29 from 4:30 to 10:00 pm.  Everyone is welcome.

Construction

DataCenter Development

The City of Chaska is pleased to announce that we are currently working with another datacenter development in our West Creek Corporate Center.  With a concept plan to go to the Planning Commission and City Council in June, the city has been working with a yet to be named datacenter who would like to open up the property north of the existing West Creek Corporate Center for the second phase of the industrial park.  Currently, West Creek Corporate Center has two major datacenters, including United Health Group and ExtremeData.  This would be the third datacenter in the development, but the fifth overall datacenter development occurring in the Chaska.

A major reason for datacenters considering development in Chaska has to do with the high quality and affordable electricity we are able to provide to customers, as well as great connectivity to several fiber networks.

Because of the focus of Chaska Electric being within the City’s corporate limits, we have been able to maintain a very high level of reliability in power, with several sources of backup and reduction of downtime of electrical outages.

While no electric system can be completely fail-safe, Chaska electric’s performance standard has exceeded that of investor owned utilities within the State of Minnesota, making Chaska a great place for datacenters to consider for development due to their high electrical usage and need for reliable electrical.

The City of Chaska is excited to have such a focus of datacenters within the community.  We are happy to be able to serve their needs and have them consider Chaska as their new home.

A big thank you to the Chaska Electric Department who also make these developments possible by providing high quality service to our residents and businesses.

Questions about the electrical department or further development of the West Creek Corporate Center may be directed to the Chaska City Administrator, Matt Podhradsky at 952-448-9200 or matt@chaskamn.com.

FootGolf

FootGolf Reminder

A reminder to residents that Footgolf is up and running at the Chaska Par 30.  There has been a good response from participants.  Daily “tee times” are available for Footgolf, with weekend hours from noon until dusk.

As a note to those individuals playing traditional golf, Foofgolf is able to tee off at the same time that golfers are playing on the course.  This gives an opportunity for people to participate in both options at the same time.  We are pleased that Footgolf and regular golf can coexist together and offer another positive community activity to people who may never have used the course in the past.

If you are interested in trying out Footgolf, contact the Chaska Par 30 at 952-448-7454.  The course is looking great!
