City of Chaska
Solicitation for Citizen Volunteers
Transition Task Force-Veteran’s/Schimelpfenig Parks

The City of Chaska is seeking two residents to serve on a task force to discuss and make recommendations to the City Council on the transition of Veteran’s and Schimelpfenig Parks.  At its September 21st meeting, the City Council voted to swap the names of these two parks, and as part of that action also established the framework for a Task Force to look at the many different aspects of park transition, including signage, park amenities, historical displays and the potential for a Veteran’s Memorial in the new Veteran’s Park.

The task force will be made up of membership from the Chaska VFW and American Legion, the Downtown Business Alliance, the Chaska Parks Board, the City Council, two members of the public, and one member of the Schimelpfenig family.  The purpose of the Task Force will be to present recommendations to the City Council for consideration to fully transition these two park spaces to their future use.

Individuals interested in being considered to serve on this Task Force should be a resident of Chaska who is able to meet 1-2 evenings per month from late November through the end of March.  Those interested should submit a one-page summary describing your purpose for wanting to serve on this Task Force, any pertinent experience you may have had in the past that would serve this Task Force well, and your contact information.

Statements of interest should be sent to City Administrator Matt Podhradsky at One City Hall Plaza, Chaska, MN 55318 or by email to
matt@chaskamn.com by November 9, 2015.  The Council will hold short interviews for the positions prior to the Council meeting on Monday, November 16th

Any questions on these positions should be referred to the City Administrator at 952-448-9200.

CHASKA COUNCIL MEETING UPDATE

The regular meeting of the Chaska City Council scheduled for Monday, October 19 will be cancelled and will instead consist of a Work Session only.  Councilmembers will be included in the final interview process to select a restaurant provider at the Chaska Town Course at this Work Session.

There were a total of six applicants who applied for the privilege of contracting services to the restaurant at the Town Course, previously operated as Charlie's Town Course Grille, by Charlie and Joy Panacopolous.  After many years of excellent service to the community, Charlie has decided to retire.  Charlie instigated numerous updates to the facility, including evening and weekend dinner specials, catering options, and private parties in the off season.  We hope to continue these services that will not only enhance the experience of golfers, but also attract patrons who see the restaurant as a destination dining option.

Two excellent applicants will be interviewed on location Monday evening.   We hope to make a final selection shortly thereafter.  Following, is the agenda and interview locations for Monday night.
