I just moved to Chaska, what should I do?
The City of
Chaska provides the electric, sewer, water, and stormwater utility services to
residents. Please call the City of
Chaska Utility Billing Department at (952) 448-9200 to apply for service or
stop in at City Hall, One City Hall Plaza and a customer service representative
will be able to assist you. At least
one day advance notice is required to schedule meter readings. You will need to complete an Application for
Utilities and must meet one of three service requirements.Service requirement options are as follows:
1)If you have purchased the property, you may sign the Utility
Service Payment Agreement, in addition to completing the Application. The Utility Service Payment Agreement must
be signed in the presence of a Notary Public;
2)You may provide a letter of credit from a current utility
company showing no more than one delinquent payment during the immediate past
twelve month period; or
3)Pay a utility deposit equal to two times the average monthly
utility bill.

Where are you located?

Utility Billing is a department in the City of Chaska Administrative Offices at
One City Hall Plaza, Chaska, MN 55318.City of Chaska Administrative Offices are located in the same building
as the Chaska Library.
How do I get there?
We are just
two blocks south of the Chaska Blvd. and Highway 41 intersection.At the intersection of Chaska Blvd./41, take
Highway 41 south two blocks to the next stoplight, which is 4th
Street. Take a right on 4th
Street, and One City Hall Plaza is at the end of the block on your right.
What are your hours?
Office
hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
What if I have an after hours emergency?

How do I sign-up for Chaska.net Internet Service?
Chaska.net
is offered to Chaska residents at a monthly rate of $18.99 for residential service and $28.99 for
small business service. You can sign up
and pick up your wireless bridge at City Hall, One City Hall Plaza, Monday
through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you do not have an existing Utility Account with the City of Chaska,
a $95.00 deposit is required when you are issued the wireless bridge.
Do you have a senior citizen discount & how do I receive it?
You are
eligible for reduced electric rates if you are presently receiving retirement
benefits, Retirement Survivor’s Insurance Benefits, or Disability Insurance
Benefits under the Social Security Act 42 U.S.C.#301, as amended; or if you
receive a Federal or State Pension Plan. If you receive any of these benefits, please contact the City of Chaska
Utility Billing Department at (952) 448-9200 to sign up for reduced electric
rates.
I’m having a hard time paying my utility bill, what can I
do?
You can
call Chaska Utility Billing at (952) 448-9200 to enter into a Promise to Pay
Agreement to avoid any interruption in your electric service due to delinquency
of your utility account.

Can I have my monthly community center membership payment
included on my utility bill?
You may
arrange to have your monthly community center membership included on your
utility bill by calling the Chaska Community Center at (952) 448-3176.
Do you have a rebate program for energy efficient
appliances?
The City of
Chaska Electric Department now offers many energy efficiency rebates. Save energy and money with a Residential
Central Air Conditioner Tune-up. The
City of Chaska, in conjunction with the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency
(MMPA), offers a $60 rebate when you have a qualified contractor perform an A/C
tune-up.
The City also offers residential
rebates for the purchase of Energy Star Efficient refrigerators, dishwashers,
clothes washers and air conditioners. Furnace filter replacement rebates are also available. Details and forms are available online at www.mmpa.org, click on “Our Communities”, then
“Chaska” and go to the bottom of the page, or call (952) 448-4335.One rebate per customer account is available
for each type of rebate. The rebates
are offered to residential electric customers served by the City of Chaska.
What is the Green Power Choice Program?
Green Power
Choice is a voluntary program offered to customers of the City of Chaska. By choosing to purchase green power, you are
supporting increased reliance on renewable energy sources, thereby reducing the
burning of harmful fossil fuels. Green Power is
offered in blocks of 100 kilowatt hours (kWh) at a cost of $1.75 per block. You can choose to purchase any combination
of Wind Power or Hydro Power blocks. Thus you decide how much you are willing to contribute to support the
use of renewable energy.Signing up is
easy! Simply call Chaska Utility
Billing at (952) 448-9200 to complete a Participation Form.
Can I have my utility bill paid automatically from my
bank account?
Yes. You can sign up online at www.directpaymentplan.com or call
City of Chaska Utility Billing at (952) 448-9200 for an application form. Automatic payments are deducted on the 12th
of each month. There will be a message
on the monthly bill when the automatic payment plan is in effect.
What are my options when paying my utility bill?
Payments can be made with cash,
check, or money order. Credit/debit/check card payments, phone payments, and on-line payments
are not accepted.

Do you need to get inside to read the meters?
Most
electric meters are read from the outside. However, the water meter is usually located inside the residence. Your water meter is typically read by remote from outside your home. On occasion, we may need to gain access to your water meter if
there is a problem with the remote. We
will contact you to schedule an appointment to gain access to the inside
meter if such a need arises.
