Chaska.net Macintosh Setup Mac OSX :: MacOS8.x-9.x
Configuring an Apple Macintosh
for internet access via a cable modem is quite a straightforward procedure.
Click onto the Apple Icon in the top
left of the desktop, select Control Panels and TCP/IP.

The following TCP/IP
window will appear. Click into the Connect Via drop-down menu and select Ethernet.

Then click into the Configure menu and select Using DHCP Server as shown below.

The Apple Macintosh will then return its IP Address almost
immediately; a valid IP range will be identical to that of a PC.
Our valid range will consist of a 216.x.x.x IP address, a subnet mask
of 255.255.255.0, a router address or gateway address of 216.167.208.1, and a
Name Server Addr of 64.247.205.12 and 64.247.205.22. If you get an IP address
of 169.x.x.x, this is an invalid address and means that your bridge is not
receiving a decent signal.

Finally, just close the window and save the settings
