Chaska Police Officers Present

"Learn About What Police Officers Do"

at the Chaska Community Library

A fascinated audience listens to Detective Kehrberg read a story inside the library as an interested group gets a demonstration of a police car, including all of the equipment, outside from Officer Wurtz.

Chaska Police Officer Trent Wurtz and Detective Jon Kehrberg participated in Preschool Storytime at the Chaska Community Library.  The event, "Learn About What Police Officers Do", was sponsored by the Friends of the Library and coordinated by  Librarian Marydel Ketcham.

Detective Kehrberg has participated several times in this special event. He read "Officer Buckle and Gloria" to an attentive group of preschoolers.  He also spoke about officers, their tool belts and vests.  Detective Kehrberg enjoys this interaction with young children.  He feels it is very important for them to see officers as people.

Officer Wurtz showed the preschoolers a police car.  The children were able to climb into the car and were shown all the equipment.  They had many questions for Officer Wurtz about the car and contents of the trunk.  This was Officer Wurtz' first time participating in Preschool Storytime.  He feels it is important to allow young children access to police equipment to help them feel comfortable with Police Officers.
