The Chaska Police
Department has joined with the YWCA, and many Chaska area community
partners to bring to Chaska, “It’s Time to Talk: Forum on Race”.
This is an initiative modeled after successful programs in other
metro communities. It
provides opportunities for meaningful dialogue, with the ultimate goal
of eliminating barriers that foster racism.
“These conversations move beyond the superficial, by inviting
people of every ethnicity to participate in seeking deeper understanding
and friendship that will affirm a stronger and healthier community,
which comes from increased involvement by all people”, said Chief of
Police Scott Knight. “Dialogues
on Race” give people an opportunity to discuss racism and how it
impacts our workplaces and society.
The
event will be free, open to all, and held at the Chaska Community
Center. We will meet on
Tuesday, May 18, from 6 PM to 9 PM.
